$18M expansion for Rodeph Shalom synagogue at Broad & Spring Garden (Philadelphia Business Journal, July 8, 2014 by Jared Shelly)

An article about our Renovation and Expansion written by Erin Arvedlund appreared in the July 6, 2014 Philadelphia Inquirer. (The link to the artilce is below.) There were some errors in the article: The artchitectural firm, Brawer & Hauptman, is not invovled in the project. It also stated that the design and layout for the Philadelphia Museum of Jewish Art has not yet been determined. The PMJA is a very important part of Rodeph Shalom and will be prominent and have double its current space in the new addition.

Rodeph Shalom, Friends Select School and MCSC Win Right to Intervene Against Provence Casino
(January 9, 2014) The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board yesterday granted a petition to intervene filed by Rodeph Shalom, Friends Select School and Mathematics, Civics and Sciences Charter School against the Provence Casino proposed for North Broad Street. It was the first time in the history of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Act that intervention status was awarded to community groups.

The intervention may mean that petitioners will be allowed to present testimony on Jan. 28 in the suitability hearings for the Provence Casino. It also gives petitioners standing to appeal if the Provence Casino is awarded the license. The proposed casino development is at the site of the former Philadelphia Inquirer building at 400 N. Broad. (See articles below)
