A Taste of Judaism

Free for members, $36 for an individual or a couple, for all 3 sessions

Designed for those who would like to learn about the foundations of Judaism or for those who may be searching for an entryway into Jewish life, this course explores Jewish perspectives on spirituality, values, and community. Adult B’nai Mitzvah

If you never became a B’nai Mitzvah, here’s your chance to participate in group study and join our Adult B’nai Mitzvah class. Students will lead a Saturday morning Shabbat service. Contact Sophia Schwab (clergyoffice@rodephshalom.org). You must be a Rodeph Shalom member to register.

Introduction to Judaism

Free for RS members; $250 (individual/couple)

Tuesdays, January 20 through April 14

If you are an interfaith couple, considering converting to Judaism, or Jewish and looking for beginner’s education, Introduction to Judaism is perfect for you. Taught by RS clergy, this course provides a foundation of the Jewish faith, culture, people and history, from a Reform perspective. Topics include Shabbat, The Life Cycle: Birth, B’nai Mitzvah, Conversion, Wedding, Death, Mourning, Afterlife, Jewish Holidays, Jewish History, Prayers & Blessings, and more.  Click here to see the syllabus.

Jewish Meditation

Prepare for Shabbat by opening our hearts and minds to the Divine on Fridays at 5:00 p.m. Our meditation includes text study, music, art, yoga, and prayer in a small supportive small-group environment. Chaired by Ellen Poster (ellenajme@aol.com)

Torah Queeries

Facilitated by an LGBTQ rabbi and/or rabbinical student, all are welcome to join and build community while looking at the Torah through a rainbow lens. No prior knowledge of Torah or Hebrew necessary. Contact Heshie Zinman (hjzinman@gmail.com).

Torah Study

Held weekly on Shabbat morning from 9:15-10:30 a.m., this is the cornerstone of our learning. We discuss the weekly Torah portions and have a lively conversation as we relate this ancient text to our daily lives. No previous Torah study or knowledge of Hebrew needed.
