Rabbi Eli Freedman was ordained at Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion in 2010, after earning his undergraduate degree from Brandeis University. His rabbinical training included three years of study in London, and before joining the clergy team at Rodeph Shalom, he served as Rabbinic Intern at NYU Hillel and led the outreach and engagement program at Columbia/Barnard Hillel.

At Rodeph Shalom, Rabbi Freedman’s major areas of focus are social justice, families with young children, and young adult engagement. He is also engaged in the full range of rabbinic life, including officiating life cycle events, leading services, preaching, pastoral counseling, and adult education.

Rabbi Freedman, his wife, Laurel, and their daughters, Josephine and Nora, live in Kensington, where they enjoy dining out, live music, and community gardening.
