Shabbat Evening Service with Ani Kinor: The RS Orchestra

The vision of Congregation Rodeph Shalom is to offer the kind of Friday evening Shabbat worship service which will help create profound connections among all of our congregants. On Friday evenings we hope all of our congregation will come together to welcome Shabbat and to pray together, to support each other in times of need and in times of joy, to socialize together and to build a strong sense of community.

Tot Shabbat

This clergy-led service is a time for babies, tots and preschoolers and their families to gather for singing, dancing and storytelling. The service is followed by an oneg.

Shabbat Evening Service Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. featuring the Chester Children's Chorus (CCC)

Help us welcome the Chester Children's Chorus as our guests that evening. The children will sing from our bimah, and you won't want to miss the magic of their music and the mission of this chorus. Dr. John Alston, former associate professor of music at Swarthmore College, founded the Chorus in 1994 to offer Chester children the same opportunity to change their lives through music that he was offered as a boy by the Newark (NJ) Boys Choir. Today, the CCC numbers 130 children, ages 8-18, from every school in the city of Chester, PA.

Simchat Torah Celebration

On Simchat Torah we celebrate the completion of the annual reading of the Torah and affirm Torah as one of the pillars on which we build our lives. Sing and dance to joyful Klezmer tunes . This celebration includes Berkman Mercaz Limud (Religious School) Consecraction ceremony.

Selichot Service

Join us for the start of the High Holy Days for an evening of reflective prayer at a Selichot Service at 8:00pm.

For our intimate and contemplative service, we invite congregants to bring a brief reading, poem or prayer to share out loud (under 200 words). Something from Jewish tradition, general spiritual tradition, or from your own heart, that would help prepare us for the High Holy Days, is welcome (but nothing is required).
