Counting of the Omer: 15th Day

“The ‘burning bush’ was not a miracle. It was a test. God wanted to find out whether Moses could pay attention to something for more than a few minutes. When Moses did, God spoke. The trick is to pay attention to what is going on around you long enough to behold the miracle without falling asleep. There is another world, right here within this one, whenever we pay attention” (Rabbi Lawrence Kushner, God Was In This Place and I, I Did Not Know). On our journey from Pesach’s freedom to Shavuot’s purpose, we count the Omer together:

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ מֶֽלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, אֲשֶׁר קִדְּשָֽׁנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתָיו, וְצִוָּֽנוּ עַל סְפִירַת הָעֹֽמֶר.

Baruch atah Adonai Eloheinu melech ha-olam asher kid’shanu b’mitzvotav vitzivanu al s’firat ha-omer.

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Ruler of the universe, who sanctifies us with mitzvot, and commands us concerning the counting of the Omer.

Tonight begins the 15th day, which is 2 weeks and 1 day, of the Omer.

Join us for our counting of the Omer, in person and on social media, throughout the journey from Pesach’s freedom to Shavuot’s purpose.  Submit a favorite Jewish text for our daily intention to clergyoffice@rodephshalom.org.
