SUMMARY:Israel/Palestine Study Group
DESCRIPTION:Defining Antisemitism: A look at some Competing Definitions \nThere are many competing definitions of antisemitism in the public discourse. The most prominent is that of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA)\, which has been incorporated into speech codes by major American universities and put into legislation in a number of American states. Another is the Jerusalem Declaration\, developed by a group of international scholars in antisemitism studies and related fields in response to the IHRA definition. With the help of a video featuring Omer Bartov\, professor of Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Brown University\, who is a signatory of the Jerusalem document\, we will discuss the strenghts and weaknesses of the two. This conversation will be facilitated by Brian Gordon and Howard Green. \nRegister here. Contact Heshie Zinman.
