B’rit (Covenant) Ceremonies
B’rit Milah
B’rit milah (convenant of circumcision), also known as a bris, is a religious ritual in which male babies are formally welcomed into the Jewish people on the 8thday of life. A mohel performs the circumcision at the b’rit milah ceremony, which also includes prayers to welcome the child into the Jewish people, the formal announcing of the child’s Jewish or Hebrew name, and additional blessings. For more information on the ceremony, click here.

B’rit Bat
B’rit Bat is a ceremony in which daughters are welcomed into the covenant. The ceremony can be held during a Shabbat service in the sanctuary, at the family’s home, or in one of our many event spaces at Rodeph Shalom, with a Kiddush luncheon following.

The Jewish Wedding
A Jewish wedding celebrates the union of all couples, regardless of gender identity, expression, and sexual orientation. Before the ceremony, couples will meet with the clergy member up to three times.
Rodeph Shalom clergy will officiate at interfaith weddings if the family is committed to having a Jewish home and raising Jewish children.
