FOOD DRIVE ON YOM KIPPUR MORNING

Help address hunger during the High Holy Days. Please provide non-perishable food items to RS on Yom Kippur morning only for Philabundance. Consider bringing your food donation in a recyclable bag and emptying it into the large cardboard containers outside our building. Thank you for continuing the tradition of tikkun olam at RS.

Meditation session: This practice, with RS congregant and meditation leader Jill Katz, offers a quiet space to pause and reconnect with the sacred themes of Yom Kippur. Through gentle breathwork, reflective music, and guided meditation, we’ll explore the practice of teshuvah (return)—turning inward with compassion and presence. Together, we’ll reflect on the year that has passed, honor both our challenges and our resilience, and consider our intentions for the year ahead. Whether you’re seeking spiritual renewal, personal clarity, or a contemplative way to deepen your Yom Kippur observance, this welcoming session offers an opportunity to cultivate inner stillness and make space for reflection. No meditation experience is necessary. All are welcome.

Study Session: “The Vow We Can’t Keep and Why We Need Others”:  It’s tempting to promise more than we can hold. But circumstances shift, hearts change, and tradition insists we can’t release ourselves from our own vows. It takes someone else. Join us to explore vows, annulment, and why undoing our own overreach requires other people.

The Belonging Project: Connecting with Fellow Congregants: During Yom Kippur afternoon on Monday, September 21 at 2:00 p.m., small-group discussions will invite participants to reflect on themes of gratitude, forgiveness, fresh starts, and the legacy we hope to leave. Register here.

A Great Shofar Blast; 5:30 p.m.

Congregants of all ages are invited to participate in “A Great Shofar Blast” at the end of the Concluding Service on Yom Kippur (about 5:30 p.m.). Bring your shofar & help us create a beautiful sound.

 

BREAK-THE-FAST
