Israel Palestine Discussion Group

December 9 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
“What Was the Gaza War and What is the Kushner Peace Plan?”
Tuesday, December 9 at 6:30 p.m.
There are many ways to look at the war Israel waged against Hamas in the aftermath of the October 7 atrocities. Professor Ian Lustick, Emeritus Professor of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania, returns to RS to help us think them through. Can we learn more by seeing the attack on October 7? Was it a prison revolt followed by a brutal aftermath? Was it a war for Israel’s existence, or a secessionist conflict? Perhaps it was even the prelude, in its barbarity, to a new Middle East. RS members and their invited guests are welcome. RSVP to Heshie Zinman.
Dr. Lustick holds the Bess W. Heyman Chair, Emeritus, in the Political Science Department at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a past president of the Politics and History section of the American Political Science Association and of the Association for Israel Studies, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Among his books are Arabs in the Jewish State (1980); For the Land of the Lord (1988, 1994); Unsettled States, Disputed Lands (1993); Trapped in the War on Terror (2006); and Paradigm Lost (2019).
