Jewish Feminist Book Club

On December 30, we will be discussing a chapter from Debra Kaplan and Elisheva Carlebach’s, A Woman is Responsible for Everything: Jewish Women in Early Modern Europe. We will be reading and discussing the chapter “Custom and Ritual,” discussing our assumptions about Jewish women of the past and religious participation and ritual, in contrast with the actual historic information and commentary of this text and exploring our notions of the past through our contemporary feminist lens.
