Event details

Note: The agenda for this meeting changed when we obtained a distinguished presenter. This announcement supersedes all prior notice of this meeting.

RS established a successful program of virtual, periodic “check-ins.”  Members join a Zoom meeting
to say hello and exchange news and comments with the RS clergy and other participants.  With so many of us confined to our homes for most of the day, the participants in these check-in meetings have found them to be very satisfying and welcome.

We have scheduled a combined check-in meeting for LawyeRS and a terrific program immediately following  on Thursday July 23 starting at 7:00 p.m. and ending around 8:30 p.m.  The check-in will be immediately followed by a fascinating program, “Suing the Police and Other Government Officers: A Civil Rights Lawyer’s Perspective” on the civil rights challenges in cases involving suits against police officers and other governmental officials.  We will hear from leading Philadelphia civil rights lawyer Paul Hetznecker.  Paul is a former staff attorney for the Defender Association of Philadelphia and is a member of its Board of Directors.  Paul is also an adjunct professor at Arcadia University,  teaching courses on criminal justice, civil rights, and surveillance.  Paul will discuss the practical issues facing lawyers involved in such cases followed by a general question and answer session.   Please join us for this fascinating and timely topic.  All are welcome.
