Miss Gad will speak about her award-winning memoir, The Color of Love: A Story of a Mixed-Race Jewish Girl.  A grateful child of adoption, Miss Gad speaks internationally about her own transracial adoption in 1970, and her experiences being Black/White biracial and Jewish through the lens of her memoir.  Miss Gad is also an independent writer/producer in Los Angeles.

Three days after her birth, Marra was adopted by a white Jewish family in Chicago. For her parents, it was love at first sight— but her family soon came to realize that not everyone loved so freely. Since her adoption, Marra has had trouble finding a community that would fully accept her. She is often not “black enough” for black spaces and, in the Jewish community, she is regularly been cast aside and disrespected. The racism she has faced is pervasive; even within her own family, Marra has had trouble escaping discrimination.  But in spite of it all, she chooses to lean into the power of love.
