Days of Learning: A Kosher Table at the Banquet

May 8 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

A Kosher Table at the Banquet

Rose Lerner

2:00-3:00 PM at Rodeph Shalom

Historical romance author Rose Lerner shares her research into Jewish
social, legal, and political life around the time of the American Revolution.
Pennsylvania’s Quaker founding offered Jews a kind of civic equality that
was unavailable to them in Europe. Rose will shine a spotlight on the
tumultuous career of Philly-born Lt. Colonel David Salisbury Franks, who
served under Benedict Arnold at West Point, Washington at Valley Forge,
and diplomats Franklin and Jefferson in Europe, before coming home to
Philly to work in Alexander Hamilton’s national bank until his early death in
the yellow fever epidemic.
