Rabbi Mendel once boasted to his teacher Rabbi Elimelech that evenings he saw the angel who rolls away the light before the darkness, and mornings the angel who rolls away the darkness before the light. “Yes,” said Rabbi Elimelech, “in my youth I saw that too. Later on you don’t see these things anymore…”

On our journey from Pesach’s freedom to Shavuot’s purpose, we count the Omer together:

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ מֶֽלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, אֲשֶׁר קִדְּשָֽׁנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתָיו, וְצִוָּֽנוּ עַל סְפִירַת הָעֹֽמֶר.

Baruch atah Adonai Eloheinu melech ha-olam asher kid’shanu b’mitzvotav vitzivanu al s’firat ha-omer.

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Ruler of the universe, who sanctifies us with mitzvot, and commands us concerning the counting of the Omer.

Tonight begins the 46th day, which is 6 weeks and 4 days, of the Omer.

Join us for our counting of the Omer, in person and on social media, throughout the journey from Pesach’s freedom to Shavuot’s purpose.  Submit a favorite Jewish text for our daily intention to clergyoffice@rodephshalom.org.
