Mitzvah Project:

In celebration of Israel’s 75th anniversary, Rodeph Shalom will collect, organize and assemble individual bags of children’s books and toys to benefit the children and grandchildren of the food insecure families we serve each week through our Breaking Bread on Broad food pantry.

There are several ways to support this mitzvah:

1) Order one or more of three bilingual children’s books from Headhouse Books, 619 S. 2nd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19147 either in person or by phone at (215) 923-9525.  Please tell the bookseller that you are buying one or more of the listed books as part of the Congregation Rodeph Shalom Mitzvah Project.  The owner of Headhouse Books is providing a 20% discount for these books as his contribution.
Select any one or more of these books:
Spanish/English:  Circa/Close or Lejos/Far, $7.99 each
Mandarin/English:  The Rainbow Fish – $10.99

2) We have selected several “outdoor fun” toys, games, and arts and crafts items that children will enjoy during the spring and summer months ahead. Please order one or more of these toys for children in the RS Gift Registry at Target on or before April 14, 2023. If you have a Target account, your items will be shipped directly to RS.  If you do not have a Target account, you can create one during check-out.

3) If you do not wish to create the account, please call (800)591-3869 to place your order and ask to have your purchase shipped directly to RS. If you prefer not to order from the Registry, please feel free to purchase similar items from the store of your choice and either ship them to RS or bring them to the synagogue on or before Tuesday, April 18th

Volunteers are needed from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the 18th to sort the toys and books and get them ready for assembly by our kindergarten and first grade BML students and their parents on April 23rd in honor of Israel’s 75th anniversary.
