Rodeph Shalom Youth & Teen Virtual Summer Programming

At Rodeph Shalom, during this summer like no other we are keeping our children connected with each other and with their Jewish lives!  Online programs include weekly youth group events for all ages, Midweek Hebrew enrichment classes for students in 1st through 6th grades, teen game nights and a teen conversations series on important topics in our world, Friday night Shabbat and Sh’ma experiences for PreK-2nd grade, and special events for all BML families to share together.  These experiences will be led by Jennifer James, Director of Youth Education, together with some of our most talented and engaging teachers from Berkman Mercaz Limud and highlighted by visits from Rabbi Maderer, Rabbi Freedman, and Cantor Glassman. Because this programming was not anticipated in the 2020-21 synagogue budget, and in order to compensate our talented, dedicated teachers who are providing these youth opportunities, a donation of $118 for each student who participates in the summer programming is suggested and greatly appreciated, but not required.

Midweek Hebrew (Wednesdays  at 4:30pm):  Our popular Wednesday Hebrew learning program will continue over the summer, with students divided into small groups based on age and Hebrew level. Midweek Hebrew is an enrichment activity, and not required in order to prepare for b’nai mitzvah. It is ideal for students who are interested in learning a new language and doing so with games and other immersive instruction methods, with other children who are also excited to explore the Hebrew language. Zoom links and other information will be provided to everyone who signs up by Wednesday morning.

Teen Conversations for TodayThis series of conversations will allow RS teens to engage with each other, with clergy, and with guests on the following topics:

    • Mindfulness in the Month of Elul:  A Conversation with Jennifer James — Wednesday, September 23, 8:00-9:00 p.m
  •
