Torah Study with Rabbi Barbara Symons

June 17, 2023 @ 9:15 am - 10:30 am

Rabbi Barbara AB Symons graduated from the University of Michigan and was ordained by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1994. Since 2006, she has been serving Temple David in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, just outside of Pittsburgh. She is deeply involved in the interfaith community primarily through her work with the Monroeville Interfaith Ministerium—of which she is past president—and through the Catholic Jewish Education Enrichment program. Engaged with the local community, Rabbi Symons has served as president of the hospital’s clergy board and rabbinic groups, and she is active with the town council, school board, and library. Rabbi Symons is the editor of CCAR Press’s Prophetic Voices: Renewing and Reimagining Haftarah (2023).

The cornerstone of our learning is our Saturday morning Torah Study. We discuss the weekly Torah portion and have a lively and spirited conversation as we relate this ancient text to our daily lives.

No special training or prerequisite courses are necessary for you to attend. Neither is there an entrance requirement for the understanding of Torah. When we come to it in study, there are no barriers to keep us distant from our heritage.

To access the weekly portion digitally visit: https://www.hebcal.com/sedrot or to purchase a hard copy of the plaut Torah commentary or women’s commentary visit  https://www.ccarpress.org/shopping_product_list.asp
